Default Engagement photo session?

We're having our engagement photo session soon, and we're using a photographer who suggested the idea of photographing a "day in the life of" of my fiance and me. For example, she wants us to stay in our PJs until she gets there to take some pictures of us in bed (no, not sexual pictures), making breakfast, brushing our teeth, etc., and then venturing out into the city to take pictures of us hailing a cab, riding the train, getting ice cream, etc. I was just wondering if anyone has done something like this, and if they would mind sharing their pictures. I'm just really curious to see how they turned out.

Also, for the ladies, did you have your make-up done for your engagement session? I'd really like to have mine done just because we're putting a lot of effort into the pictures, so we both want to look our best. Some people say it's a really good idea, and some say it's unnecessary. Your thoughts?
Nicole S - Your comment is unnecessary, but just FYI, it's costing us very little. We're hiring a photographer with an amazing portfolio, but little wedding experience. She's looking to expand her wedding photography skills and is actually charging us next to nothing for the session, Photoshop work and all the images on a CD.

Normally, we wouldn't splurge on something like this, but it fell into our lap, and we're really excited about it.
Thanks Nova Queen! That's kind of what I meant - If I had my make-up done, it would be really subtle. I just know that when I had my senior portrait done for HS, the photographer highly suggested having it done just because the make-up artist would know what to highlight and how to do my skin so I wouldn't look washed out. Thanks
Wow, Valerie X - If you're actually a wedding planner, I feel really bad for your clients! How close-minded of you! This is certainly not the 1900s, for crap's sake.

The photography style is called photojournalistic. It's a very popular current trend. Would we have a picture of us making breakfast on our fireplace mantle? Of course not! Would we maybe put one in a scrapbook? Yes!

Jeez, the way some people have reacted you'd think we were having boudoir pictures taken or something.

I think that sounds like a wonderful idea. I have never heard of that.

I just did my makeup myself for our engagement pictures. You should look just like you look everyday...especially given your theme.

For our engagement photos we just went to the studio and had posed shots done.
However, I would absolutely encourage you to do your makeup (or have it done). I don't wear much makeup and I have good skin. But under the lights and with a really good camera, I was shocked at how I turned out. They weren't bad, but I learned my lesson to never be photographed by a pro without some foundation on - at minimum!

Here are our shots - - not bad, but I wish I'd worn makeup!

I think that sounds kind of cool actually. I would tell her though which activities you two usually do so the pics really represent you instead of "cookie cutter" pics. If you get your makeup done, do it very natually, it will help in the pics but if it's a "day in the life" of you, you aren't always gussied up, I would do your own actually. I am looking foward to our engagement photo session but we are doing it in the fall with our football jerseys on at a stadium, we are football nuts! Good luck and congrats!

I think that's a really cute idea. I also chose a photographer that has a great portfolio, but little wedding photography experience. We took pictures around our little country town. They turned out very nice, and at a very reasonable price.

I didn't get my make-up done for our engagement pictures, but as long as it looks natural, go for it. You might even want to use someone that will do your make-up on your wedding day. It can be a practice for her and for you to decide what colors and stuff to go with.

I dont have a ton of money for my wedding, so an indepth photo session like that is out of the question. It sounds cute and unnecessary, but if you have the money do it for fun.
